The National Wedding Show is taking place from the 1-3rd October at London Earls Court 2. This fantastic show is your one stop wedding shop with everything you need for your big day.

We had a fantastic day, meeting Brides, their families, events planners and growers from around the UK.  I chose a romantic, fantasy theme using Gypsophila, Stephanotis Floribunda, white Hydrangeas, Olive branches, white ‘Bridesmaid’ Spray Roses, Alabaster & Vitality Roses and our beautiful Fantail Doves.

The Roses

The first Rose we used is called Vitality. It is a buttery white rose with an intense fragrance. The Rose has scalloped petals for a more romantic look and opens all the way. The second Rose is called Alabaster, heralding from the Floribunda family of Roses.  This is whiter than Vitality and opens all the way into a rosette form.  It has a strong fragrance and lasts for up to ten days in the vase.  The grower of both these excellent and beautiful roses is Alexandra Farms.

The Aviary

I decorated the Aviary with a delicate Gypsophila and Stephanotis garland.  The garland was a great deal of work, but the final result was stunning and received a great deal of attention from the visitors, and the Doves…  Our romantic Fantail Doves seemed to enjoy all the attention they were getting, relaxing in a beautiful setting.

We used Gypsophila because it is beautiful, delicate and creates a wonderful effect.  It is also perfect for budget conscience weddings where you want the wow effect, but also want to watch your pennies.

Carmen ‘Vitality’ Rose

The Carmen Rose, or Sown Rose as we call it in Denmark, was created from a Rose at its centre, and a multitude of Rose petals sown around it.  Creating a Carmen Rose takes skill, time and patience but the finished bouquet is beautiful in its ‘simplicity’.  The Carmen Rose is one of my signature bouquets and I really enjoy making them, and seeing peoples reaction when they see it.

Urn arrangements

We also used Gypsophila to create two low cost Urn arrangements.  These are relatively simple to make, requiring a ‘chicken wire’ ball, and the time and patience to insert the Gypsophila.  The effect is wonderful, creating a light, delicate and beautiful shape complementing the White flowers and Doves perfectly.

Square vases

These table arrangements were created using both Alabaster and Vitality Roses.  I added straps of white around the vase to create additional interest and a little detail.  I wanted a solid feel to the arrangements and to show off these extraordinarily beautiful roses to their best effect.  The roses have a wonderful shape and delicate fragrance and we will most definitely be using them again.

Bud vases

The Bud vases were of slightly different shapes and sizes to create interest in addition to beauty.  They contained Sweet peas and a random assortment of  Alabaster Roses, Scabiosa and Poppy pods.

Both copper bowls were placed upon oxidised iron tripod stands.  We really enjoy using oxidised copper.  The natural colours of the oxidised copper compliment almost any arrangement or venue.

Small copper bowls

We created a series of our copper bowls with simple arrangements of Peonies, Hydrangea and Gypsophila.

All in all we had a fantastic day.  We had wonderful feedback and kind comments from a great many visitors.  The comments and meeting people with a passion for floristry and flowers makes us want to do it al over again!  Hopefully, we will get a bit more sleep next time!

The National Wedding Show: 1-3 October 2010

Our next Wedding show will be the National Wedding Show on 1-3 October 2010 as part of the Designer Flower Zone. The October show takes place at Earl’s Court 2.  I will be there along with our florists.  We will answer any questions you have, and give you great floral advice for your big day.  If you plan to visit, please say Hi Hi!
